What this site is

ChristianOccasions is a practical guide to the moments that matter in a Christian life. Baptisms. Weddings. Funerals. Confirmations. The Christmas service. The grief that comes when someone close dies and the eulogy has to be written. The wedding where the readings are unfamiliar and no one is sure what to bring.

The site explains what is happening, what it means, and what is expected of the people present, whether that is the participant, the host, the godparent, the guest, or simply someone trying to understand what Christians do at moments like these.

What the site does

The site describes what Christian traditions actually do at these occasions, accurately, specifically, and without picking favorites. A Catholic baptism is not a Baptist baptism. A Methodist wedding is not a Greek Orthodox wedding. Each guide names the differences and explains them.

The site does not preach. It does not tell readers what to believe. It does not urge readers to pray, grow closer to God, or be transformed. Those questions belong to the reader and the reader’s tradition.

What the site does provide is description: what is happening, what is customary, what is expected of each role, and what specific, thoughtful things are appropriate for someone participating, whether that means choosing a meaningful gift, writing a card that says the right thing, or simply knowing what to expect on arrival.

The editorial standards applied before any page is published are documented at how we write. The research process and the sources consulted are documented at research and sources.
