Saint Vincent de Paul is the seventeenth-century French priest who founded the Congregation of the Mission (the Vincentians) and, with Louise de Marillac, the Daughters of Charity. The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, founded by lay people in 1833 in honor of his charism, continues today as a major Catholic lay organization.
